California Parenting Class FAQs
Why did the California judge order me to take this class?
In California family courts, judges and mediators frequently order parents to take a co-parenting or divorce education class when there are disputes over child custody and visitation. The goal is to reduce conflict, improve communication between parents, and protect the best interests of the minor children involved.
Is this accepted in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County?
Yes. Because our curriculum is developed and overseen by a licensed mental health professional, it is widely accepted by Superior Courts throughout California, including major jurisdictions like Los Angeles (LASC), San Diego, Orange County, and Riverside.
Do my ex-partner and I have to take the class together?
No. In fact, in cases of high-conflict divorce or contested custody, California courts strongly prefer that you do not. Each parent must register for and complete the course individually. You do not need to use the same provider or complete the course at the same time.
What is the deadline to complete the class?
Your specific deadline will be explicitly stated on the court order issued by your judge or mediator. Typically, you are expected to complete the course and file your certificate well before your next scheduled custody hearing or mediation session.
Will the court accept a digital PDF certificate?
Yes. California Superior Courts fully accept the digital PDF certificates generated by our platform. You can easily provide it to your attorney, or upload it directly through the California e-Filing system to submit it to your local court clerk.
