Texas Parenting Class FAQs
What is a SAPCR and who needs to take this course?
SAPCR stands for Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship. Under Texas law, judges frequently order any parents involved in a divorce, custody dispute, or SAPCR involving minor children to complete a 4-hour parent education and family stabilization course before issuing a final conservatorship order.
Is this accepted in my specific Texas county?
Yes. Our course is strictly aligned with the mandates set forth by Texas Family Code Section 105.009. Because it is taught by a licensed mental health professional, it is widely accepted by District Courts in major counties like Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar, Travis, Collin, and Denton.
Do my ex-spouse and I have to take the class together?
No, and Texas courts generally prefer that you do not. Each parent must register for and complete the course individually. You do not need to use the same provider or complete the course at the same time.
What is the deadline to complete the class?
Your specific deadline will be listed on the court order issued by your judge, often between 30 and 60 days. Regardless of the timeline, your judge will not sign your final divorce or custody decree until both parents have successfully filed their Certificate of Completion with the court.
Will the court accept a digital PDF certificate?
Yes. Texas circuit and district courts fully accept the digital PDF certificates generated by our platform. You can easily provide it to your attorney, or upload it directly through the Texas e-File portal to submit it to your local District Clerk.
