Why We Built These Classes

As a counselor who works with couples and families, I see how hard a divorce or custody case is on children. Most of that stress comes from conflict between the adults around them.

These classes focus on what helps children most: keeping them out of the middle, communicating with the other parent without fighting, and handling the changes to schedules and homes.

Each class follows its own state’s law, so it covers what your court expects. You can finish it at home, at your own pace.

How It Works

The steps are the same in every state. Only the law, the class name and where you file the certificate change.

1

Check Your Court Order

Your order or local rules say whether you need a parenting class, the deadline, and whether the court approves specific providers. If you’re unsure, ask your attorney or the clerk.

2

Take the Class Online

Most classes are 4 hours. Finish in one sitting or log in and out over several days. Each parent takes the class on their own.

3

File Your Certificate

When you finish, download your certificate of completion. Give it to your attorney or file it with the clerk before your final hearing.

Will my court accept an online class?

Many courts accept online parenting classes, but the rules vary by state, county and judge. Some courts keep a list of approved providers or require a specific program. Check your court order, or ask your attorney or the clerk’s office, before you enroll. Each state page above lists that state’s law.
